The Wonderful Love of God

A short Bible study about the wonderful Love of God. Enjoy!
Please read Fact: God Loves His Children as an introduction to this study.

Sometimes Christians don’t feel loved by God, but feelings are unreliable. If we feel unloved by God we're wrong. The facts prove otherwise.

If we wonder about God’s love, we can read through the passages in the Bible study below and get our facts straight.

1. Note the elements of God's love present in these passages:

Psalm 86:5: You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.

Psalm 118:4: Let those who fear the LORD say: "His love endures forever."

Psalm 136:11: His faithful love endures forever.

2. Is it hard for you to imagine that God delights in you?

Zephaniah 3:17: The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.

3. The plan of salvation is God's love in action!

John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

1 John 4:9-11: This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Romans 5:8: But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Ephesians 2:4-5: But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

4. God's wonderful love fills us with His Spirit and changes our hearts and minds.

Galatians 2:20: I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

John 15:9: As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
1-minute devotion about this verse: God's Commands Empower Us!

1 John 4:8: Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Romans 5:5: hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

5. God will never leave us because we have become His children through our faith in Christ.

Romans 8:39: neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1-minute devotion about this passage: We're Overcomers!

1 John 3:1: See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
